What customers say?

“ Excellent Sunday roast 9.5/10. Very rare to get a gluten free Yorkshire pudding option. Beautiful beef cooked to perfection, extra jug of gravy and lovely roast potatoes. Would be 10/10 if the cauliflower cheese had been gluten free (made with corn flour rather than regular flour). Also if there was an option to buy a side dish of additional vegetables ie carrots and peas to share. I love a margarita and asked for it on the rocks which they were happy to do which was great. It’s a lovely venue and the staff were amazing as very attentive, Louisa and LJ especially. We will definitely be back, great to learn it’s also dog friendly so will next time take our dogs. ”

“ Visited for lunch and really enjoyed the Winter Menu. I had garlic chicken which looked a bit over done but when I cut into it, it was lovely and moist. Served with a garlic mash, broccoli, and a pepper sauce it was divine! I also had the chocolate chilli tart with ice cream for desert and this was also gorgeous. I can't wait to visit again :) ”

“ Food was superb, had Sunday roast. My only one comment re the food was the colour palette which was a little pale with the parsnips and roast potatoes being same colour. An oven roasted carrot to go with the parsnip would have helped (in my opinion). Portion of meat was very generous and cooked perfect. Service was a little hit and miss, pleasant but we needed to attract the servers attention to get dessert ordered, coffee etc. No one came to ask how our meal was, which in this day and age I was little surprised. There was large party eating later who were at the bar drinking pre their lunch, and this seemed to take a lot of the servers attention. I think you were a little short staffed. The glasshouse is lovely, tables well separated - but we had three dogs also at tables. Is there a dog policy where customers with dogs can be seated? My comments are perhaps quite critical. We had a very enjoyable lunch, and we will be back for a dinner/lunch during the week. Very impressed with the seating and what is offered. ”

“ We went to Number Nine for a bonfire night themed afternoon tea with friends and we were all so impressed. The food, service, atmosphere and location were all simply impeccable. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and one of my party, an afternoon tea regular, deemed it to be one of the best she had ever had! We will definitely be back again. ”

“ No9 - Baby Shower Everyone who attended had nothing but compliments to you all. Thank you for making it such a lovely memorable afternoon for our special Mum to be. Thank you to the chef and team for accommodating so many dietary needs at no point were we made to feel uncomfortable. Thank you for allowing us to take photos on the beautiful grounds. There was nothing that we asked for that was too much thank you for making us feel so welcome. The drinks and food were beautifully presented. ”

“ Lovely building Lovely food Lovely staff. We ordered 2 main courses and a side. They brought 2 plates for us to then divide without swapping food from 1 to the other. So few places do that but worked perfectly. The picture of the food was my plate. So not beautifully presented as I put it on the plate but every bit tasted delicious. Not overpriced and will go again. They have got gardens you could wander around but whilst we were the weather changed from sunshine to fog. Another reason to return ”

“ Valentine’s Day lunch 14 February 2026. What a fantastic meal. We’ve never had even a mediocre meal at No 9, but this menu was amazing. I’ve never had polenta chips, but could happily have had a plateful! Sadly just an amuse bouche, but delicious. My husband rated his split pea soup as soup++, and my gravlax was really good. The smoked pork belly and cod were also delicious, with interesting sides which I was unsure about. I shouldn’t have worried, the baby baked potatoes, leeks and courgettes just worked beautifully! I indulged in a rich chocolate and orange cheesecake (perfect) whilst my husband’s jelly and ice cream was a highly sophisticated take on a nursery classic. Added to this was the excellent service from the staff, attentive, friendly and helpful. A wonderful way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. If, like me, you were on non alcoholic drinks may I suggest the 1290 mocktail. Delicious! ”

“ We had the three-course Sunday roast and it was excellent. £35 for three courses is great value. Started with the wild boar Scotch egg, followed by a beef roast for main and apple and rhubarb crumble for dessert. Everything was really well done and its great to see the chef's cooking everything fresh in front of you. Service was attentive and well-timed throughout. The glasshouse setting is a lovely open space with a nice atmosphere. Parking is easy too, which is always a bonus. Will definitely return. Highly recommended. ”
